An SUV crashed into an Applebee’s restaurant last night causing at least three injuries in Goshen, IL. The car accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. at the Applebee’s restaurant located at 1807 Reith Blvd. just off U.S. 33. The driver reportedly mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake as she was attempting to park her vehicle outside of the restaurant. The SUV then slammed into the restaurant taking out one of the windows and a portion of the façade. The collision destroyed the window as well as a table and left food and glass all over the restaurant. Witnesses described a hectic scene as the car exploded into the building colliding with a table that held a family of diners.
Police and firefighters immediately arrived to the scene of the crash. The car accident victims were rushed to Goshen General Hospital. Subsequent reports have indicated that none of the accident victims suffered fatal injuries. Other diners at the restaurant were not asked to leave though most congregated outside following the crash. The driver of the SUV indicated that she was a Chicago resident on her way to the lake for the weekend and that she was stopping at the restaurant for a quick meal.
