Fresh criminal sexual abuse charges have been filed against Rev. Alejandro Flores stemming from his time as a seminarian at St. Mary’s Parish in West Chicago, IL, and Holy Family Parish in Shorewood, IL. Flores has been under police custody since he surrendered on January 20th of 2010. He is currently being held in Kane County Jail on $1 million dollar bond. Flores made headlines earlier this year when he attempted to commit suicide following sexual abuse allegations. Flores leapt 20 feet from a balcony at St. Mary’s Carmelite Church in Joliet, IL, last January as police were initiating a sexual abuse investigation.
Flores is facing allegations that he had sexual contact with a young St. Charles boy between January 1st, 2005, and January 1st, 2010. Flores is also accused of attempting sexual contact with the older sibling of that boy during the same time period. Flores was indicted Tuesday on one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, six counts of criminal sexual assault, six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of indecent solicitation of a child, and one count of attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Flores faces a minimum of 25 years in prison if convicted. The new indictments supersede the criminal sexual abuse complaint filed on January 15th. These new charges are based on information that was uncovered during an investigation of Flores.
