Lyons Township Car Accident Leaves Three Injured and Two Dead

A Chicago area car accident left three injured and two others dead this morning in Lyons, IL. The fatal head on car accident occurred at the intersection of 1st Avenue and West 47th St. arpund 4:30 a.m. According to published reports, Lyons Police were responding to a call of a motorist driving the wrong way up a one way street when they learned of the car accident. Responding officers found two vehicles involved in what appeared to be a head on collision at the site of the incident. They also found two car accident victims that had been ejected from one of the vehicles. The other three car crash victims had to be extricated by local fire crews.

The Chicago car accident claimed the life of a seven year old boy and a 43 year old Naperville man. Both of those accident victims were treated at Loyola Hospital. Police did not release information as to where the remaining accident victims received treatment. Those victims were listed in serious to critical condition. Traffic was shut down on 1st Avenue immediately following the crash so that investigators could would on accident reconstruction. Police have not indicated whether or not they believe drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the fatal car accident.
