Infant Dies Days after Multi Vehicle Chicago Car Accident

A five week year old infant was pronounced dead last Sunday following a Maywood, IL, car accident that occurred on May 28, 2011. The Chicago car accident reportedly involved three vehicles and may have been the result of a road rage incident. Reports indicate that the Chicago car crash was preceded by a confrontation that occurred in Melrose Park, IL, at the intersection of 9th and Winston. According to sources, 50 year old Elias Cruz and 35 year old Jose Maurus, were in a Toyota that was involved in some sort of altercation with an unidentified vehicle at the aforementioned location. The Toyota then began speeding while travelling south on 9th Avenue and crossed over into the northbound lanes just past Main St. where it collided head on with a white Nissan. The Toyota then became airborne and hit a black Pontiac that was driving behind the Nissan.

The Nissan was being driven by Josh Hurst and carrying Sarah Kiris and their five week old daughter. Both Hurst and Kiris, who had to be extricated from their car, were taken to Loyola Medical Center following the Chicago car accident. The men inside the Pontiac, Lonnie Reaves Jr. of Chicago, IL, and Antonio Martin of Chicago, IL, were reportedly not injured. Both the Cruz and Elias, the occupants of the Toyota, were pronounced dead on the date of the car accident. The five week old infant was at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood until her death last Sunday.
