A Chicago area driver was allegedly under the influence of drugs caused multi vehicle car accident on the Edens expressway. The Chicago car accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on the Edens spur ramp near Northbrook on Wednesday evening. According to reports, the accused motorist is 24 year old Ryan Tasic of Chicago. Tasic was allegedly driving a 1999 Honda Accord and speeding when he rear-ended a vehicle causing a four vehicle car accident. Tasic has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a drug paraphilia/hypodermic needle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Firefighters and emergency response personnel from Glencoe, Deerfield, Glenview, Northfield, Highland Park and Skokie fire departments immediately responded to the scene of the car accident. An emergency helicopter was reportedly on standby but not used to transport to patients. The driver and a passenger in the vehicle that Tasic initially rear-ended were taken to Evanston Hospital. The two victims reportedly suffered very serious injuries including a broken back and a ruptured spleen. The driver of the vehicle that was struck by the initial rear end victims’ vehicle was taken to Highland Park Hospital with reportedly minor injuries. Tasic allegedly suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for treatment.
