A driver headed the wrong way on Michigan Avenue during Friday evening rush hour, struck two pedestrians crossing the street near the 200 block of North Michigan Avenue. Chicago Fire Department Paramedics arrived on the scene, taking the victims to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment. Chicago Police cited the driver with several traffic violations, including negligent driving and disobeying a red light.
Typically in personal injury cases, the insurance company of the negligent party will be responsible for paying damages to the injured party. However, when an injury or death occurs, the insurance company may not always be helpful. Insurance company representatives have been known to contact injury victims only a few days after an accident occurs offering a small amount of money and asking the victim to sign documents. An accident victim shouldn’t feel pressured into settling with an insurance company. In these types of situations, you may wish to consider speaking with an experienced accident lawyer to learn what your options are.
