An article in this Sunday’s Chicago Tribune detailed several allegations of sexual abuse against Dr. Allan Aven of whose practice was based out of Arlington Heights, IL. In all, three different women have alleged that Dr. Aven had engaged them in sexual relationships while he acting as their physician. The Chicago doctor has now closed his Illinois office and set up a practice in Arizona.
The most recent allegations come from a woman who claims that the doctor had recommended that she engage in sexual intercourse with him in order to medically stimulate her libido. The doctor also allegedly prescribed many prescription medications to the victim. She was eventually treated at Northwest Community Hospital where she was weaned off the drugs prescribed by Aven. A similar and more disturbing story alleged of sexual abuse by the Doctor occurred in 2001 when one of his sexual abuse victims was found lying on his office steps after having overdosed on medications that he prescribed. Aven had been having an ongoing sexual relationship with the deceased woman. A complaint was filed to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation following the death. Dr. Aven’s license was suspended for only four months following that incident and he was placed on a two-year probation. He met with his probation officer only one time and continues to hold his license and practice medicine to this date.
