A Schiller Park man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Chicago’s northwest side yesterday. The fatal Chicago pedestrian accident occurred on the 9800 block of Lawrence Avenue. The victim, 41 year old Leonard Daddosio of the 4900 block of Harold Avenue in Schiller Park, IL, was pronounced dead at Resurrection Medical Center around 9:22 p.m. according to a spokesperson from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident was not classified as a hit and run accident. The circumstances surrounding the fatal Chicago pedestrian accident are still being investigated.
Pedestrian related accidents claimed 4,092 lives in 2009 according to the NHTSA. This figure amounts to eleven deaths a day. The administration also reported 59,000 pedestrian injuries in 2009. Also, the NHTSA statistics reveal that 70% of pedestrian fatalities occur at night.
