Alcohol Implicated in Fatal Antioch, IL, Car Accident

A fatal head on car crash claimed the life of a woman in her twenties and injured three others early yesterday in north suburban Antioch, IL. The fatal Chicago car accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. when a Mitsubishi hatchback travelling westbound on Grass Lake Rd. collided with an Eastbound GMC SUV near 27500 W. Grass Lake Rd. A passing motorists alerted police and emergency personnel to the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was killed as a result of the tragic Illinois car crash. She was extricated from her vehicle and confirmed deceased by a Lake County Coroner who was at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV was ejected from his vehicle and found conscious near the crash site. He was airlifted to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL, while two passengers in his vehicle were airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. All were rushed to trauma centers in very critical condition. The bulk of the collision reportedly occurred in the westbound lanes. The posted speed for the stretch of road is 40 mph and investigators have reason to believe that at least one of the vehicles was speeding. Also, some evidence found at the scene indicates that alcohol may have played a role in the tragedy. There were no witnesses to the fatal Chicago area car accident. The accident is still being investigated by authorities.
