Alcohol Fueled Northwest Suburban Chicago Car Accident Kills Two

Alcohol has been implicated as playing a role in a fatal car accident in Barrington Hills, IL. The tragic car accident occurred late yesterday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. on Dundee Rd. just west of Dundee Ln. in the Northwest Suburb. According to reports, the crash occurred when an eastbound 2004 Nissan Maxima crossed the center line and struck a westbound 2002 white Buick LeSabre. The driver of the Buick, 84 year-old Sarah Yaple of St. Charles, IL, and the driver of the Nissan, 24 year-old Oscar Arce of North Aurora, IL, were both killed in the accident. Arce and Yaple were pronounced dead at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, IL, shortly after the accident. A passenger in the Nissan, 25 year-old Elroy Arce also of North Aurora, IL, was taken to St. Alexian where he was treated for injuries resulting from the car accident. His condition was not immediately available following the accident.

Firefighters from the Barrington Countryside Protection District responded to the accident following a phone call from a passerby. According to the police, the Buick came to a rest in a ditch on the north side of road. The Nissan was found on the eastbound shoulder of the road. Police have determined that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. Portions of Dundee Rd. were closed on Thursday while the accident was being investigated.
